About CargoConfirm

CargoConfirm is built to help shippers verify the identity and operating status of a trucking company before releasing a load. It's designed for anyone shipping high-value, high-theft freight — metals, copper, electronics, food and beverage, auto parts, pharmaceuticals, and other commodities that attract cargo thieves.

Cargo theft through carrier impersonation is a growing problem in the freight industry. Criminals register companies with names that closely resemble legitimate carriers, obtain DOT and MC numbers, and use them to pick up loads that are never delivered. CargoConfirm is designed to make this kind of fraud harder to pull off at the dock.

Every carrier lookup and pickup verification queries the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) public QCMobile API. Results are cached for up to one hour; for a carrier whose status may be changing rapidly, check FMCSA directly as well. We show you what FMCSA says — nothing more, nothing less — so you can make an informed decision.

What we check

  • Whether the carrier is authorized to operate (FMCSA “Allowed to Operate” field)
  • Active out-of-service orders
  • Whether required liability (BIPD) insurance is on file
  • Whether required cargo insurance is on file
  • Whether the carrier's MCS-150 registration filing is current
  • Common, contract, and broker authority status
  • Broker bond and insurance on file (when a broker MC is provided)

What we don't check

  • Whether a company is actually who they say they are — pickup verification confirms the carrier entered a code sent to their FMCSA-registered email, which is evidence of identity, not a guarantee.
  • Safety scores, crash data, or inspection history
  • State-level authority or permits
